Is there any difference between how one begins one's day in the medieval age and in the modern age? As far as I can tell toilette and a good breakfast was common to both eras, but then after that ...

I don't even have pyjamas anymore, but wear an old T shirt and tracksuit trousers at night. Apart from pyjamas being a waste of money, I find that in shared accommodation I feel better if I am not dressed in obvious nightwear, when I meet others.
As for your query about the medieval times and ours, I think that the differences are probably vastly different. We rely on toiletries for washing, shaving etc. Water flows from the tap, the kettle is boiled and items kept in fridge. Also, we rely on electricity and television and online communication. It would be so different living in the medieval times and, often, we take the comforts and conveniences for granted, unless something goes wrong...

You don't have to go back in time to see differences between the many ways of starting the day, just look at the many different cultures ways of doing things today.
Were I live, not many people really take breakfast seriously. they prefer to either take something to work or buy something there. For the people in the backwoods, there day usually starts before dawn some there is often a couple of hours of work done before breakfast.
I think that the only really significant point of connection between different times and cultures is taking a piss before you do anything else and maybe washing your face.

How should, could, would one begin one's day?
Depends on time, place and person; context and circumstance.
Not the same as 'How do you begin your day?' Like how much would I be willing to share here :yikes:
I could say I shake my head to get rid of lingering earworms, like:
"Tory Bastards, Damn Them All to Hell and Back!" :rage: [ No, not back...stay there!! Burn :fire: ]
...or a pleasant-ish piece of pop
You have to start you day with either A) Music or B) Meditation or C) Musical Mediation, unless you're too hyped on coffee and cigs or have to do real work.
You just sit on your butt in the morning and start to hypnotize/self-soothe yourself with song/poetry. Yoga Mundra -- Ahhhhhhhhohhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmm with western melodic variation and hypnotic suggestion.
Until bam! one day you're liberated from the feeling that you have to always do what you never want to do. Then you'll get to do all the things that must be done while feeling joy.

Good advice; if only I knew how. Let's explore you if that's not too bold of me to ask. How do you start off yer day? As Sir2u half-jokingly recommended - by waking up :snicker: . And then ...

The Timeline channel provides the answer to such questions, from daily medieval life to building a castle with medieval tools.
Which culture? The Aztecs must have had a very different morning ritual compared to that of the Inuit or compared to that of whatever other culture.

As you can see it's not easy to answer the question. Only very general statements can be made, oui monsieur?
