What's with "question or poll"?

I started a discussion and intended it to be such. I was forced (I think; there were no other options) to choose whether my post was a question, or a poll. I decided it was not a poll, so it must have been a question.

Then the parser appended an incomprehensible sentence, something that I must accept the answer that ansers my question.

Well, everyone answers my question there, or challenges the validity of some answers.

So why this incredibly irrelevent forcing of nonsensical action?

I have more than 50 discussions, and I cannot remember ever having a poll or a question.

If you don't want a question or a poll, I think the trick is not to tick either of the boxes.

"Question" and "poll" are options available as checkboxes under the main text box. You're never forced to choose one of them, as far as I know.

Reply to Jamal Thanks. In light of the above, I voted option no. three in the poll of this topic.
