The history of Mongolia after Genghis Khan

The Mongols were once terrible conquerors in Middle ages, but after Genghis Khan they adopted the most peaceful religion - Budhism. A similar transformation happened with another warlike society - the Tibetians. I have an idea, that this transformation is logical and can be explained by the phrase "violence begets violence".

As far as I know, before Genghis Khan, the Mongols lived as relatively egalitarian nomads, they had some "democracy". I suppose, the establishment of the rule of Genghis Khan meant the authoritarian power, and soon they started suffering from this (they lost the freedoms they once enjoyed).

Possibly, constant wars formed a culture of violence: the violence was normalized and become a tool for solving internal disputes. This speculation can include either the violence inside the states, something like "criminal activity", and also the wars between the khanates formed after Genghis Khan (The Yuan Dynasty. Persia. Central Asia. Golden Horde).

And Finally, since the Mongols understood that the wars and the violence connected with them made them (the Mongols) unhappy, they decided to switch to Buddhism, a religion which declared non-violence as the highest value.

Do you agree with this speculation?

Here’s the telling phrase in your post - “As far as I know…” if you’re going to speculate like this, it’s your job to have done the research, to have the knowledge, required so that “as far as you know” is further along than it seems to be in this case. You haven’t provided any evidence or shown us you have any particular experience or expertise in this area.

Well, if nobody comments my speculations, this will mean that none at this forum have any particular experience or expertise in this area...
